EUREKA
EUREKA is a research and development funding and coordination organization of the European Union, founded in 1985. EUREKA is targeted at market-oriented development. It does not partake in, for example, military research.
Notably, EUREKA co-funded and cooperated in the EU 147 project. Technologies originating from EU 147 include Musicam, used in DAB (Digital Audio Broadcast), and ASPEC (Adaptive Spectral Perceptual Entropy Coding), which was used in a modified form in MP3 audio.
