Earl Stanhope
The title of Earl Stanhope was created in the Peerage of Great Britain in 1718 for James Stanhope, the principal minister of King George I. The title became extinct upon the death of the 7th Earl in 1967. The Earls Stanhope bore the subsidiary titles of Viscount Stanhope (1717) and Baron Stanhope (1717), both in the Peerage of Great Britain. With the extinction of the Earldom, these titles passed to the Earl of Harrington.
