Eisho

Eishō (永正) was a Japanese era after Bunki and before Daiei and spanned from 1504 to 1521. The reigning emperor was Go-Kashiwabara.

Change of Era

To mark the beginning of a new cycle of the Chinese zodiac, on Bunki 4, 2nd month, 30th day, the era changed to Eishō

Events of the Eishō Era

  • Eishō 2 (1505) - Noda Castle built
  • Eishō 8, 8th month 24th day (1511) - Battle of Funaokayama, Fearing Hosokawa Seiken (?)'s attack on Kyōto, former Shōgun Ashikaga Yoshitane who had fled to Tamba, with the assistance of Ōuchi Yoshioki encamped at Funaokayama, and entered the capital
  • Eishō 9 (1512) - Tamanawa Castle built
