Elections in East Timor
Elections in East Timor gives information on election and election results in East Timor.
East Timor elects on national level a head of state - the president - and a legislature. The president is elected for a five year term by the people. The National Parliament (Parlamenta Nacional) has 88 members, 13 elected in single seat constituencies and 75 elected by proprtional representation. East Timor is a democratic but one party dominant state with the Fretilin in power. Opposition parties are allowed, but are widely considered to have no real chance of gaining power.
