Electronics Boutique
Electronics Boutique is a U.S.-based computer games retailer, founded in 1977. They trade on the NASDAQ with the symbol ELBO.
On April 18, 2005, Electronics Boutique and GameStop announced that they would be merging into one company called GameStop Corp.
The company has 1,600 stores worldwide, mainly in the US and Canada.
The brand name was previously applied to stores in the UK and Ireland, but in 2002 these were rebranded to GAME, and GAME's parent company changed its name to GAME Plc.
Recently, the corporation changed the name to EB Games, but often the retailer is still called Electronics Boutique. They also have EBX, and EB Kids, each having a certain specialty ( EB Games specializes in Video Games, EBX is like the older Electronic Boutiques, and EB Kids has more kid friendly Electronic equipment). Some EB Games stores are internally known as EBG/Gameworld, but these are usually D volume stores.
