Elmira College
Elmira College is a coeducational, liberal arts college located on the Southern Tier of New York, south of the Finger Lakes. The campus is in the city of Elmira, New York. The college, founded in 1855, has an enrollment of about 1200 students. The college offers about thirty-five major areas of study, and grants either a B.S. or B.A. degree. Some special programs include those that lead to an MBA degree or a combined chemistry-chemical engineering degree. Other unique programs include their community service requirement (60 hours during freshman year) and performing arts requiremnt (Encore), which gives a course grade for seeing 8 shows each for the first two terms of freshman and sophomore year. Elmira is also unique in breaking it's terms down to trimesters. Students attend two full terms in the fall and winter, and then enroll in a 6 week intensive term III in the spring. Students take this oppurtunity to study abroad , intern, or take classes not related to their majors.
