Emile (1762) by Jean-Jacques Rousseau is a treatise on education. Rousseau argues that children are perfectly designed organisms, ready to learn from their surroundings and to grow into virtuous adults. Emile is a Canadian film made in 2003 by Carl Bessai but not released widely until 2004. The cast included Ian McKellen & Deborah Kara Unger . The film recived 2 Genie Award nominations (the Canadian equivilant of an Oscar) for Best Achievement in Overall Sound and Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for Ian McKellen in 2005.
