Emperor Go-Reizei of Japan

Emperor Go-Reizei (後冷泉天皇) (August 28, 1025 - May 22, 1068) was the 70th imperial ruler of Japan. He ruled from 1045 to 1068. His name was Chikahito? (親仁)

Genealogy

He was the eldest son of Emperor Go-Suzaku. His mother was Fujiwara no Yoshiko? (藤原嬉子), daughter of Fujiwara no Michinaga. He had no surviving children.

Life

Because he had no children, after his death, his half-brother succeeded as Emperor Go-Sanjō, despite the fact that the latter's mother was not of Fujiwara descent.
