Emporia State University

Emporia State University (ESU) is a comprehensive Regents university serving residents of Kansas. Located in the Bluestem Region of the Flint Hills [northeast quarter of Kansas], ESU's location is in proximity to the three major metropolitan areas of Kansas; Wichita, Topeka, and Kansas City. The Emporia State University campus, original 20 acres (80,000 m&sup2), covers 200 acres (800,000 m&sup2) . ESU is located in the city of Emporia (on the Kansas Turnpike), in Lyon County.

Originally known as the Emporia Normal School, and then as the Emporia State Teacher's college, the university school of education is still the largest division in the university. The Emporia State school of Library science is well respected.

The University is the home of the William Allen White library and the National Teachers Hall of Fame .

The ESU mascot is the Hornet.
