Eric Goles
Eric Goles (born August 1951, Antofagasto ) is a Chilean mathematician and computer scientists. He studied engineering at university before taking two doctorates at the University of Grenoble in France. A professor at Universidad de Chile, he is known for his work on cellular automata.
He was awarded the Premio Nacional de Ciencias Exactas (Chilean National Science Prize ) in 1993. He is the President of CONICYT (the Chilean equivalent of the National Science Foundation in the USA), and an advisor on science and technology to the Chilean government.
