Fasori Gimnázium

Fasori Gimnázium (lit. "gymnasium on the avenue"), also known as Fasori Evangélikus Gimnázium ("Fasori" Lutheran Gymnasium), official name: Budapesti Evangélikus Gimnázium, is a famous secondary school in Budapest, Hungary, founded by the Lutheran Church. It has been one of the best secondary schools in Hungary. Among its students were the following (at some names, the duration of attendance is given):

Among the further students and teachers were Georg Lukács, Theodor Herzl, Antal Doráti, Alfréd Haar, Gyula Szepesy , Adolf Fényes , Miksa Falk , Aurél Stein and Vilmos Tátrai .

László Rátz was a legendary teacher of mathematics in the school, after whom a Medal and an Achievement Award was later named.

The school started at Deák tér from 1823, then it moved to Sütő utca in 1864, and it took its final place in 1904 in Városligeti fasor, receiving its present nickname. It had to cease working from 1952 (during Socialism), but it was restarted in 1989.
