Flag of Devon
Devon has its own flag which has been dedicated to St Petroc, who is a local saint with numerous dedications throughout Devon and neighbouring counties. This flag was adopted in 2003 after a competition run by BBC Devon. The design has some similarities to the flag of neighbouring Cornwall, the standard of St Piran. [1] It won 49% of the votes cast.
The flag is a visible symbol of a recent growth of interest in Devon's Celtic heritage, rooted in the ancient Dumnonii tribe.
