Fluidics

Fluidics is science and technology of the application of a fluid or compressible medium to transmit energy and signals.

This term is often used as an informal synonym of fluid dynamics.

The physical premices of fluidics are pneumatics and hydraulics, based on the theoretical foundation of fluid dynamics.

While the principles of pneumatics and hydraulics are millennia old, the second half of 20th century saw the application of fluidics to sophisticated control systems.

Fluidic logic is an advanced domain of fluidics.

Nanotechnology considers fluidics as one of its instruments. In this domain, more delicate effects come into play, such as fluid-solid or fluid-fluid interface effects.
