Fortune 1000
Fortune 1000 is a reference to a list maintained by the American business magazine Fortune. The list is of the 1000 largest public American companies, ranked on revenues alone.
The idea is that these companies are the real movers and shakers in the US national economy, and as such, watching what they do can be educational. They also make great sales targets, as they have large budgets and large staff needs which must be addressed.
