Frances Davidson

Frances Davidson, Baroness Northchurch (29 May, 1894-25 November, 1985), Viscountess Davidson, was a British Conservative Member of Parliament.

Born Frances Dickinson, known as 'Mimi', she was the daughter of WH Dickinson MP. Indeed her father, grandfather and great-grandfather were all Members of Parliament. She was educated at Kensington High School and Northfields, Englefield Green. In World War I, she served in the Red Cross POW Department and was awarded an OBE in 1929.

Davidson succeeded her husband, John Davidson, when he was made 1st Viscount Davidson in 1937, as Conservative MP for his Hemel Hempstead constituency.

She served as Member of Parliament between 1937 and 1959, when she retired. For a short time after the 1945 general election, she was the only female Conservative MP. Davidson was awarded a DBE in 1952 and a life peerage as Baroness Northchurch in 1963.
