Frank Michael Reich (born December 4, 1961 in Freeport, New York) is a former NFL quarterback. A perennial backup quarterback (Reich only started twenty games in his thirteen-season NFL career), Reich is best known for leading the Buffalo Bills to the greatest comeback in NFL history in the 1992 playoffs over the Houston Oilers. With the Bills trailing 35-3 in the third quarter, Reich rallied the Bills to a 41-38 victory in overtime. The victory helped lead the Bills to a Super Bowl appearance.

Reich was never able to truly succeed as a starting quarterback. He was given the chance with the expansion Carolina Panthers in 1995, but was pulled in favor of Kerry Collins after three games. He left for the New York Jets in 1996 and the Detroit Lions in 1997 and finally retired following the 1998 season.

Also, a less talked about record held by QB Frank Reich was set during his tenure as QB for the Maryland Tarapins. He set the record for the greatest comeback in NCAA Division I-A history by leading the Terapins to a 42-40 victory over the Miami Hurricanes in 1984 just 8 years before setting the NFL record. In a similar fashion, Miami had bolted to a 31-0 lead under the guidance of QB Bernie Kosar, who passed for 240 yards and 3 touchdowns in the first half.

To initiate the scoring for Maryland, Reich threw a 39-yard touchdown pass then, cut the deficit to 31-14 with a one-yard touchdown run. After scoring 21 points in the third quarter and adding a score early in the fourth, the Terrapins found themselves trailing 34-28.

That was until Reich connected with Greg Hill for a 68-yard score to give Maryland the lead. Miami continued to falter as it fumbled the ensuing kick return, allowing the Terrapins to get the ball deep in Hurricane territory. Maryland took advantage, scoring a touchdown to cap a 42-3 run.

He is a devout Christian and is now a motivational speaker utilizing the great comebacks as a main keynote of his speeches.
