Freedom Force (comics)
Freedom Force was a supervillain team in Marvel Comics' universe. It was a government-sponsored team originally composed mainly of Mystique's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Over the years, the team's membership included both heroes and villains: Mystique, Destiny, Pyro, Avalanche, Blob, Spiral, Spider-Woman II, Crimson Commando , Super Sabre , and Stonewall . While they were given many unpopular tasks, such as enforcing the Mutant Registration Act and arresting the outlaw X-Men, they also acted heroically to save the people of Dallas during the "Fall of the Mutants " storyline.
Freedom Force was disbanded shortly after a disastrous mission in Kuwait during the first Gulf War, in which half the team was killed, badly injured, or abandoned in enemy territory.
