Gaius Asinius Gallus

Gaius Asinius Gallus was an ambitious Roman senator with family connections to the Julio-Claudian house.

He was son to Gaius Asinius Pollio. He was married to Vipsania, daughter of Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa and ex-wife of Tiberius. Asinius Gallus never denied his paternity of the son of Tiberius and Vipsania, Julius Caesar, heir from 20 AD to 23 AD; and he courted the widow of Germanicus, Agrippina Senior. This and his sharp wit made him a foe of Tiberius. He was ultimately charged with treason, and, according to Tacitus, starved to death in 33 AD.
