Herald of Galactus

(Redirected from Galactus's Heralds)

In the fictional Marvel Universe, the heralds of Galactus assist the supervillain Galactus to find worlds to devour.

Galactus, eater of worlds, scourge of every planet, universal primal force, has a problem. He eats inhabited planets, and volunteers to be eaten are not forthcoming. In order to help find suitable worlds to devour, Galactus uses heralds. Upon finding a suitable planet, a herald of Galactus will make an appearance and announce its coming destruction, a probably futile exercise in public relations. The herald then reports back to Galactus, and assists in setting up the equipment Galactus will use to convert the life energy of the planet to his use.

The Silver Surfer was long believed to be the first; he left Galactus's service. However, it was recently revealed that the true first herald was a being known only as Fallen One .

Other heralds include:

All heralds are given the Power Cosmic, which include super strength, invulnerability, energy manipulation, molecular transmutation, and the ability to travel at high speeds in space. Many have experienced qualms of conscience after some time in Galactus's service, and rebel against him to use their powers for Good instead of Evil.
