Natural gas condensate
(Redirected from Gas condensate)
Natural Gas Condensate (usually just condensate) is a by-product of natural gas. Hydrocarbon fractions which are liquid at STP can, if sufficiently light, become gaseous at the high pressures of natural gas fields.
When the gas is removed from the field and pressure reduced, some of the heavier fractions condense depending on the pressure. This liquid condensate can be refined as if it were very light crude oil.
Condensate is typically composed of:
- C2 as Ethane - 0-5% by weight
- C3 as Propane - 0-15% by weight
- C4 as Butane - 0-45% by weight
- C5 as Pentane - 5-70% by weight
- C6 as n-Hexane and Cyclohexane - 25-95% by weight
- C7 as Heptane - 25-95% by weight
- C8 as Octane - 25-95% by weight
