Gentilly Nuclear Generating Station
Gentilly Nuclear Generating Station is a Canadian electrical generating station located in Becancour , Quebec. The facility derives its name from the Gentilly suburb of the city of Becancour (itself a suburb of Trois Rivieres) in which it is located.
The facility was constructed in stages between 1966-1983 by the provincial Crown corporation, Hydro Quebec. Currently GENTILLY 1 is mothballed.
The Gentilly station is the only nuclear facility in Quebec and comprises 2 nuclear reactors (1 Pressurized Heavy-Water Reactor or PHWR, 1 CANDU) located on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River, having a total output of 885 MW (capacity net) and 951 MW (gross net) when all units are online.
