George, Duke of Saxony
George the Bearded, Duke of Saxony (27 August 1471 - 17 April 1539), was duke of Saxony from 1500 to 1539.
On 21 November 1496 at Leipzig, he married Barbara (1478-1534), the daughter of Casimir IV, King of Poland and Elisabeth, daughter of Albrecht II of Hungary.
George and Barbara's daughter Magdalena of Saxony (1507-1534) married Joachim II Hector, Kürfurst von Brandenburg, who had a son named Johann Georg, also later Kürfurst von Brandenburg (1571 - 1598).
