George L. Wainwright, Jr.

George L. Wainwright, Jr. (b. 10 December 1943) is an American judge, currently an Associate Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court.

Born in Wilson County, North Carolina, Wainwright earned a degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before working agribusiness in Wilson, North Carolina for over 15 years. He earned his law degree from Wake Forest University in 1984 and worked briefly in private practice before being named to North Carolina District Court in 1991, Superior Court in 1994, and finally to the state Supreme Court in 1998.
