Giygas

Giygas is the villain in the Super Nintendo RPG EarthBound.

Known as the "Universal Destroyer," Giygas is an evil entity from 10 years in the future that will sentence all to the horror of eternal darkness. Giygas's monstrous plan of destroying the whole universe most likely would have been successful, if not for the intervention of Ness and his friends.

It's difficult to define the power of a being of Giygas's magnitude. During the first phase of the final confrontation, Giygas is able to predict and counter each and every attack before it even makes contact, and is even able to use Ness's unique Psi attack. Once Giygas's armor (used to regulate its power) is destroyed, its power destroys his mind, making Giygas unstable and incapable of reasoning. Due to the fact he either cannot feel pain, or even register it in this state (Giygas may have evolved to his own unique level of reality), all appears hopeless for the heroic children, until Paula starts praying, reaching out to everyone the heroes have helped over the course of the game: the Runaway Five, Paula's parents and the Polestar children, the Mr. Saturn community, Poo's subjects, Frankie, the Snow Wood children, and finally the player. With all the prayers combined, Giygas's evil is destroyed forever.
