Glamourbomb

A glamourbomb, n. (derived from English words glamour , meaning faery magic; and bomb, suggesting a style of ambush, a half-jesting resemblance to terrorism) is fae activism. It involves magickal pranks, enchanted performance art, and winged culturejamming. Glamourbombers often perform these acts anonymously or in disguise. In certain ways, glamourbombs may seem similar to a random act of kindness, but with the specific goal of making people believe in faeries. Faery acts can be kind (seelie) or they can be wicked (unseelie). Unlike other forms of terrorism, most glamourbombs are harmless, although they may blow someone's mind.

In numerous (but not all) cases, glamourbombers are Discordian and/or Otherkin, or seek similar themes to these in their glamourbombs. It seems less common that they may also be Pagan or followers of Faery Wicca.

General types of glamourbombs

  • Leaving a surprise for people to find in a park, sidewalk, laundromat, or other public place. This may be a small handmade item, often inside a plastic easter egg, or tucked into a library book. It could be larger-scale, such as decorating an area.
  • Being a glamourbomb onesself, often by wearing a costume and wings where costumes are not expected, or acting out a strange dialogue. See performance art.
