Glenn Gould Prize

The Glenn Gould Prize is an international award bestowed by the Glenn Gould Foundation . This honour is in memory of noted Canadian pianist Glenn Gould and is awarded every third year to a living individual in recognition of their contributions to music and communication. Recipients of the prize are referred to as 'Laureates', and their prize consists of a cash award of $50,000 Canadian dollars, and the right to name a 'Protégé' of their choosing who in turn receives the City of Toronto - Glenn Gould International Protégé Prize in Music. Both Laureates and Protégés additionally receive bronze sculptures of Glenn Gould by Canadian artist Ruth Abernethy . In addition, a portrait photograph of each Laureate is displayed in the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto.
