Gloria Carter Spann

Gloria Carter Spann (October 22,1926-March 5,1990), was born in Plains,Ga. Spann is a sister of former President of the United States, Jimmy Carter.

Gloria was best known for her deep interest in Harley Davidson motorcycles. Mrs. Spann was also a member of the Hells Angels society. She and her husband, Walter, collected seven of the bikes throughout the years.

Spann and her husband participated in cross-country motorcycle trips and became very popular among the bikers, serving as "den parents" for the younger motorcyclists. They accomodated for the bikers who were visiting, heading to races in Florida or for anyone who needed a good meal and a place to stay.

Gloria Carter Spann was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 1989 and died of the disease in 1990. Her sister, Christian evangelist, Ruth Carter Stapleton, brother, Billy Carter, and both her parents had also died of the disease.
