Granville is located at 41°15'45" North, 89°13'41" West (41.262480, -89.227949).
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,414 people, 591 households, and 395 families residing in the village. The population density is 568.7/km² (1,476.8/mi²). There are 626 housing units at an average density of 251.8/km² (653.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 97.88% White, 0.42% African American, 0.07% Native American, 0.42% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.71% from other races, and 0.50% from two or more races. 3.39% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 591 households out of which 29.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.8% are married couples living together, 8.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.0% are non-families. 30.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 17.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.39 and the average family size is 2.95.
In the village the population is spread out with 24.8% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 24.7% from 25 to 44, 25.8% from 45 to 64, and 17.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 86.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 84.2 males.
