Greater Poland Uprising 1806
Greater Poland Uprising of 1806 (Polish: powstanie wielkopolskie 1806 roku) was a military insurrection of the Polish people in the Greater Poland region against the occupying Prussian forces after the Partitions of Poland (1772-1793).
It was organized by the general Jan Henryk Dąbrowski to help the incoming French forces under Napoleon I to liberate Poland from the Prussian occupation. The uprising was a decisive factor that allowed the formation of the Duchy of Warsaw in 1806 and the inclusion of Greater Poland area in that political body.
