Greece Interstate 70

Greece Interstate 70 is a highway linking Argos, Nafplio, Epidavros, and Corinth. It is one of the few highways that run eastward while ending north. The cardinal direction is not marked. The kilometre markings are marked from west to east in the south and north to south in the second section. The highway is divided into two, the Argos - Epidavros Highway and Corinth - Epidavros Highway with a junction to Porto Cheli which is the main unofficial highway joint from Corinth. The highway passes in the northern and eastern part of the plain in Argolis, It runs in the low-lying areas as high as 200 m in the central part of Argolis and runs within the Saronic Gulf on the western side for the rest of the route with the southern part running partially inland with forests bushes and rocky landscapes in the southern part in the northern part and and ending in Corinth via a junction anf an interchange 400 meters west of the Corinth Canal. It runs through Argolis and Corinth or just Argolis.

  • Length: about 100 km--48 km from Argos to Epidavros and about 50 km from Corinth to junction with a road to Troizina and Porto Cheli.

The road runs no high as 300 to 400 m above sea level.

History

In 1995, the construction of GR-8A corinth 3-lane bypass and the Epidaurus clover-leaf interchange began. It was completed in 1997 next to the future high-speed rail underpass.
