Gretchen Cordy

Gretchen Cordy (b. February 7, 1962 in New York City, New York) was a cast member of the first season of the television series Survivor. She was a member of the Pagong Tribe, and then the Rattana tribe for one episode before she was voted off. Cordy said in her final words that she had a tough job voting people off, and that she had no conflicts with anyone on the island. However, she did not purposely use a strategy in order to win the game. Many consider that she is "the one that should have won" because of her survival skills and kindness to the other tribemates.

Before Survivor, Cordy grew up in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania before entering the US Air Force where she became a survival instructor and earned the Cadre Award . She later moved to Clarksville, Tennessee to start her family, and she began to work part-time for a preschool.

After Survivor, Cordy took up a job as a morning DJ at a local radio station in Clarksville, as part of her new-found celebrity status. She was also a contestant on the Survivor Castaways edition of The Weakest Link in 2001 and made appearances on Tennessee's Wild Side, a outdoor adventure television show.

Cordy received $15,000 for her appearance on Survivor, most of which paid her bills and a car loan, and has made other lecture appearances. She has said she would use the money from the lectures to start a camp for troubled teens.
