Guy Carbonneau

Guy Carbonneau was a player in the National Hockey League whose main productive years were with the Montreal Canadiens. He was born on March 18, 1960 in Sept-Iles, Quebec.

Carbonneau was drafted 44th overall in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. His strong play as a defensive forward helped the Canadiens to a Stanley Cup championship in 1986 , followed by three Frank J. Selke Trophy wins in 1988 , 1989 , and 1992 . In 1989-90 he was named the captain of the Canadiens, and led them to another Stanley Cup win in 1993. In 1994 he was traded to the St. Louis Blues, playing there for one season before moving to the Dallas Stars. He earned his third Stanley Cup ring in 1999 with the Stars, and retired from playing following the 1999-2000 season .

After a brief period as an assistant coach with the Canadiens, Carbonneau moved back to the Dallas Stars with whom he is currently an assistant General Manager.
