Hólar
Holar, Iceland has a population of 100 persons. Holar is located in the Skagafjörður district. Holar is 379km from Reykjavík
History
Holar was founded in 1106 A.D. Holar soon became one of Iceland's two main centers of learning. Holar was one of the few remaining strongholds Catholicism held in Iceland during the Reformation. At its peak Holar accounted for a quarter of all of Iceland's bishops. The first printing press was in introduced to Holar in 1530. Holar Agricultural College was founded 1882. The college was renamed Hólar University College in 2003.
