HGTV Dream Home
The HGTV Dream Home is the American cable network Home & Garden Television's annual project house and sweepstakes, held since 1997. The contest commences with a television special showcasing the fully furnished, custom-built home; viewers are invited to enter online or by sending in a postcard.
The 2005 Dream Home is located on Lake Tyler, near the city of Tyler in East Texas. The home and its adjacent dock house have a combined heated and cooled area of about 6,500 square feet (600 m²). The total value of the prize package, which includes an SUV and $250,000 in cash, is $1.5 million.
The 2004 and 2005 Dream Homes (in St. Marys, Georgia and Lake Tyler, respectively) were opened for public tours, with some of the ticket proceeds going to local charitable groups.
