Haier
Haier (海尔) is a producer of household appliances ("white goods"), including air conditioners, laptops, refrigerators, etc. Its headquarters are in Qingdao, China. The name is an English phonetic reading of the Mandarin pronunciation of the characters Hai3 (海) ocean, sea and Er3 (尔) son, child; i.e., Son of the Sea. They are now the third largest white goods manufacturer in the world.
Haier opened it's Hong Kong subsidiary in April 2005. It is listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange and an index stock of the Dow Jones China 88 Index .
