Harbin Y-12

The 'Harbin Y-12' is a twin-engine turboprop utility aircraft built by Harbin Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation (HAMC). The Y-12 started life as a development of the Harbin Y-11 airframe. The design featured numerous improvments including a redesigned wing with a supercritical aerofoil section and bonded rather then riveted construction. The Y-12 II prototype first flew August 16, 1984 and received Chinese certification in December of the following year. The powerplants are two Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-27 turboprops with Hartzell props. The Y-12 has a maxpayload of 3,748 lb. (1,700 kg) with space for 17 passengers (2 crew). The aircraft is operated by China and several other countries in the region, as a light commuter and transport aircraft.
