The full name, given above, is "Owl Ordinary Magic Level Exam." In Book 3, the name changes to Fukurou Hyoujun Mahou Reberu Shiken (ふくろう標準魔法レベル試験), meaning "OWL Standard Magic Level Exam." The name is later shortened to "OWL (fukurou) Tesuto," meaning "OWL Test" and "OWL (fukurou) Shiken," meaning "OWL Exam."
