Hassan II Mosque
Casablanca, Morocco, is home to the Mosque of Hassan II, the second largest mosque in the world. Its minaret is also the world's tallest at 210 meters. It was built for former Moroccan King Hassan II's 60th birthday and was finished in 1993.
It was built on a reclaimed embankment, inspired by the verse of the Koran that states 'the throne of God was built on the water'.
It is the only mosque open to non-Muslims, for a fee.
