Hawaii Theatre

The Hawaii Theatre is a historic vaudeville entertainment house and cinema in downtown Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. It is a National Historic Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Built in 1922 by Consolidated Amusement Company in Hawaiian art deco architecture, the Hawaii Theatre mainly operated as a grand movie palace. Beginning in the 1950s with the advent of television, the theatre gradually fell into disrepair until Consolidated announced the theatre's closing in 1984. Concerned citizens formed the Hawaii Theatre Center, which purchased the theatre and several adjacent buildings in 1986.

The theatre underwent a major interior renovation from 1989 until its re-opening in 1996, and exterior renovation is scheduled to be completed in 2004. Following the renovation, the Hawaii Theatre has once again become a popular venue for stage shows and concerts.
