Heart was one of the most successful female fronted bands in the annals of hard rock. Founded in Seattle in 1974 by sisters, Ann Wilson and Nancy Wilson, the band had a sound heavily influenced by Led Zeppelin (in fact, Heart drummer Denny Carmassi later played with Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page in Coverdale/Page) with elements of folk-rock and power ballads. Their collaboration in Heart resulted in numerous multi-platinum albums, nine US top ten singles, and worldwide career sales of more than 20 million records.

Heart's Ann Wilson guested on the Alice In Chains song "Brother", and the late Layne Stayley from Alice In Chains guested with Heart on a cover of Bob Dylan's "Ring Them Bells".
