- See entry for Eber, (great-grandson of Noah's son Shem and the father of Peleg and Joktan, sometimes also known as "Heber" in English.)
In the Bible, Heber or Chéver (חֶבֶר / חָבֶר, ("friend", "connected"), Standard Hebrew Ḥéver / Ḥáver, Tiberian Hebrew Ḥéḇer / Ḥāḇer) is the grandson of the patriarch Asher mentioned in the Book of Genesis 46:17 and in the Book of Numbers 26:45 . Heber should not be confused with the Eber who was Noah's descendant.
According to some British traditions, Heber was the name of a people descending from Magog's first son Baath who were supposed to have occupied the Iberian peninsula, and Ireland (Hibernia) prior to arriving at their final destination in the Hebrides, leaving their name in each location. Prior to this Iberians were also in the east mediterranean.
