Henry Fitzalan-Howard, 15th Duke of Norfolk
Henry Fitzalan-Howard, 15th Duke of Norfolk, 27 December 1847 – 11 February 1917 , was an English nobleman and philanthropist. The Dukes of Norfolk have always had large land-holdings, especially around Sheffield.
As usual with the Dukes of Norfolk, he was a Roman Catholic. He built the Church of Our Lady and St Philip between 1868 and 1873. It became a Cathedral in 1965.
The Cathedral of St John the Baptist in Norwich was commenced in 1882 and was the result of a gift of £200,000 from the 15th Duke. The gift was in thanksgiving for a happy marriage to his first wife, Lady Flora, who died in 1887.
He was a significant contributor to the Father Damien fund to fight leprosy.
The 15th Duke also donated funds for the building of the University of Sheffield and was its initial Chancellor.
He was Postmaster-General from 1895 to 1900 and the first Lord Mayor of Sheffield in 1895. In 1900 at age 53 he went to the Boer War. In the same year he was named honorary Freeman of the City of Sheffield.
His Grace was the son of Henry Granville Fitzalan-Howard, 14th Duke of Norfolk and Augusta Mary Minna Catherine Lyons.
His first wife, Lady Flora Paulyna Hetty Barbara Abney Hastings, daughter of the 1st Baron Donington and the Countess of Loudon gave him a son, Philip Joseph Mary Fitzalan-Howard, Earl of Arundel and Surrey, who died in 1902, at age 22, unmarried.
After being widowed His Grace married Gwendoline Mary Herries, Baroness Herries, daughter of the 11th Baron Herries. The children of this second marriage were:

- Bernard Marmaduke Fitzalan-Howard, 16th Duke of Norfolk, (1908-1975)
- Lady Katherine Mary Fitzalan-Howard, b. 1912
- Lady Winefride Alice Fitzalan-Howard, b.1914
