Henry Kimball Hadley

Henry Kimball Hadley (December 20, 1871-September 6, 1937) was an American composer. Born in Somerville, Massachusetts, he studied music in Vienna under Eusebius Mandyczewski and Ludwig Thuille . He was appointed conductor of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra in 1909 and of the San Francisco Symphony in 1911, serving until 1915, when he left to devote himself to writing music. His works include five symphonies, six operas, and numerous other pieces, including the first synchronized score for a film, the silent film Don Juan in 1926. He died of cancer in 1937.
