Hikari Kamiya, known as Hikari Yagami in Japan, is a character in the anime and manga Digimon. She is usually called "Kari" in the English versions. She is the partner to Gatomon and she is the younger sister of Taichi Yagami. She has a kind-heart with a calm attitude.

Digimon Adventure

Unlike the other DigiDestined, Hikari doesn't enter the DigitalWorld on August 1st because she has the flu on that day. When the Digi-destined come back to the real world they battle Myotismon who was looking for the 8th child, the final member of the Digidestined. It is by fate that Gatomon encountered her and the two learn they are partners. Hikari obtains her Digivice and Crest of Light on August 3rd when she joins her brother and his friends in saving the Digital World.

Digimon Adventure: Our WarGame (Japanese version)

Hikari is at a friend's birthday party during the whole event. Although Taichi asks for her help, she cannot be rude to her friend by leaving the party.

Between Digimon Adventure & Digimon 02 (Japanese version)=

At May 2000, Hikari arrives at the Digital World and gives up her Crest-power to free the Soverigns. As a result, Gatomon lost the power become Angewomon.

Digimon 02, First half

Hikari grew a lot during the last years, becoming more mature and less sickly. She gets a bit perky and brave. Her new hobby is photography. In place of her whistle, she now has a digital camera around her neck. She is very mischievous and loves playing practical jokes on people, especially Daisuke Motomiya, who has a crush on her. Hikari she teases him by flirting with her friend Takeru Takaishi to spite him. Hikari always feels safe around Taichi and Takeru, as they know how she feels. They sense her feelings for the Dark Ocean.

Digimon 02: Hurricane Touchdown/Golden Armor Evolution (Japanese version)

When she and Takeru visit Mimi in New York, they encounter Wallace (Willis in the English version), Terriermon, and Wendigomon . While on a train for Colorado, Hikari sent a E-Mail to the other DigiDestined, who make their way to America to help her and Takeru. But on the way, their train is hindered by Wendigomon so they have to continue on foot. They manage to join up with the others during the fight with Cherubimon.

Digimon 02: Second Half

While searching for Gatomon’s lost power ring, she, Miyako Inoue, and Ken Ichijouji end up in the Dark World. Upon finding the Dark Ocean, Hikari began to lose her composure during her last visit; this event is taken adventage of by a Blossomon. It took Miyako's slap and words to make the two girls see eye-to-eye and for them to give their Digimon the power to DNA Digivolve.

On Christmas, Hikari, Koushiro Izumi, and their Digimon are sent to Hong Kong, to help the Asian DigiDestined. At the Other World, Hikari is subjected to MaloMyotismon's illusion. Her desire is for humans and Digimon to live side by side, therefore making it a better world for everyone. Gatomon and Raidramon break her free of the illusion, and she then joins with the other kids, who are in the process of breaking free of their illusions. Hikari uses the power of the dream dimension against MaloMyotismon, with Angewomon, Nefertimon, Silphymon all appearing at once.

Digimon 02: Michi E No Armor Shinka (Japanese version)

When Pukumon enter the scene with a Control Spire, Jou Kido is knocked into the 02 gang and Hikari ends up with Iori's D-Terminal, allowing Gatomon to armour digivolve to Butterflymon .

Digimon 02: Diaboromon's Counterattack (Japanese version)

Four years after the events of 'Our War Game', the evil Diaborromon resumed his reign of terror on the super information super highway. The Kuramon are bio-emerging via e-mail, so while Taichi, Yamato and their Digimon enter cyberspace to battle Diaboromon once more, the others had to track down the Kuramon. Miyako and Hikari found the first & catched it for Koushirou to examined. When Omnimon were being over powered by Diaborromon, Hikari, Takeru, & their Digimon had gone to help their big brothers. But Hikari was soon forced to watch the battle between Imperial Dramon & Armagedemon .

Digimon 02: Series Finale epilogue

By the year 2027, Hikari achieves her dream of being a kindergarten teacher.

V-Tamer

During one of her battles as a kid, she and the other 02 DigiDestined encountered Parallelmon , who asorbed her, Takeru, Miyako, and Iori, as the monster inadvertly sends Daisuke into the V-Tamer continity where he meets Taichi. Hikari and the others help Daisuke from inside the monster by recreating the Digimental of Miracles. With the monster destroyed, Daisuke and his friends returned to their continuity.
