Mount Arafat
(Redirected from Hill of Arafat)
Arafat, altough a hill, is referred to as a "mount" by the Saudi Government and by most Muslims.Muslims believe the prophet Adam and Eve (Hawa) were reunited on the hill and forgiven by Allah. Do not confuse with Mount Ararat.
It is also an important site because on the Hajj, Muslims are required to spend an afternoon there wearing essentially nothing but a white unhemmed cloth draped over the body, called an Ihram, and a pair of sandals.
It reaches about 70 metres in height.
The leader Yasser Arafat was named after this mountain.
