Home Truths

Home Truths is a weekly BBC Radio 4 programme which was created in 1997 and was originally hosted by the DJ and presenter John Peel until his death in October 2004. In a Saturday morning 9-10am slot, the program quickly became one of BBC Radio's most successful. Using a confessional format, John Peel was an exceptionally gifted interviewer, succeeding in drawing humourous, quirky and sad stories out of listeners without sensationalising or resorting to mawkishness. The theme tune was Dick Dale's Let's go Trippin' .

The forerunner to Home Truths was Offspring, (1995-97), also hosted by Peel. Home Truths took essentially the same format as its predecessor, but widened the remit from talking about the relationship between parents and children to discussion of all aspects of family life.

Since the death of John Peel the programme has been presented by a series of guest presenters including writer David Stafford and comedian Linda Smith.
