Homestar (company)
HomeStar Bank is an Illinois-based chartered community bank. HomeStar was founded in Kankakee County following World War II. Orginally known as the Manteno State Bank, the bank primarily served the citizens of Manteno, Illinois until 1987 when it purchased the Bradley Bank of Bradley, Illinois. Eventually, the bank expanded to serve other areas of Kankakee County with the establishment of full service branches in neighboring villages. In 1996, the two banks merged all branches and operations under the name of HomeStar Bank.
- HomeStar's total assets have grown from $40 million USD in 1987 to over $375 million in the first quarter of 2004. The bank also manages another $493 million of home mortgages.
- The Bank is fully insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), and maintains the "well capitalized" ranking of the FDIC.
