Hoot (comic book)

For the 2002 young adult novel by Carl Hiaasen, see Hoot (Hiaasen).

Hoot was a UK comic book that ran from (issues dates) 26 October 1985 to 25 October 1986, when it merged with The Dandy. Strips throughout its 53 issue run included:

  • The Badd Lads (reprint from The Beezer)
  • Big Uggy (reprint from The Topper)
  • Colonel Blink (reprint from The Beezer)
  • Cuddles (from Nutty, the cover star)
  • Desperate Dan (reprint from The Dandy)
  • Dogsbody
  • The Hoot Squad
  • Lord Snooty (reprint from The Beano)
  • L Plated Ella
  • Piggles
  • Polar Blair
  • Sam's Secret Diary
  • Snackula
  • Spotted Dick
  • Super Fran
  • Tarzan Stripes
  • Wanta Job Bob

Polar Blair and Spotted Dick later continued in The Dandy, with Cuddles joining another Dandy strip (Dimples ) and becoming Cuddles and Dimples. Revised reprints of Piggles appeared for about half a year in 2004.
