IEC 60027-2
In information technology there is sometimes confusion about measurement of bits and bytes. On the one hand the SI-prefixes representing powers of 1000 are in use, on the other powers of 1024 are substituted very often. IEC developed a system of binary prefixes to label the powers-of-1024 factors unambiguously.
