Ian Bryson
Born in Kilmarnock, Scotland's Ian Bryson began his football career at his home town club. Moving to England to play for Sheffield United and Barnsley, the creative midfielder found his true home at Preston North End, whom he joined on his 31st birthday in November 1993.
An influential figure on and off the field, Bryson was appointed Captain of the North West Outfit, and led them to the 3rd Division title in 1996, lifting the trophy at Deepdale in front of a large, adoring crowd.
Perhaps his finest personal moment was a spectacular goal in the 1994 play off final at Wembley, although his dazzling overhead kick against Wycombe Wanderers wasn't enough to prevent his team losing out 4 - 2 in a thrilling encounter.
Bryson ended his league career at Rochdale, but is still remembered with great affection at Preston North End, one of the founding members of the Football League.
